[ Daniel would just give this gift to Robby in person, but.. well, teens sometimes get a little bit flustered about that sort of thing, right. Even if it's not like Robby and Daniel haven't been sappy right in front of each other's salads before.
Still, just to be safe, Daniel leaves the package in front of the door to Robby's apartment, figuring the boy will find it soon enough. It's labeled with his name, and inside the box is a photo frame. It's one of those digital ones, where you can change the photo..
There's already a photo on it right now though. There's two women in the photo, sitting at a table having lunch together. It seems to be a candid shot, since they're not looking at whoever is taking the photograph - instead they seem to be laughing about something together. Robby will recognize both of them. One of the women is Amanda, and the other one is Shannon. It looks to be from about a while ago, going by both of their looks.. probably a little closer to the time Robby was still staying with the LaRussos, back when Shannon went into rehab.
There's a note in the box too: ]
Robby,
It took me a while to get this to somehow work, but seems like I've figured it out. I still had the photo on my own phone from a while back. Sorry that I didn't have a better shot of her, but I figured something is better than nothing.
You should see her this way, not the way this place is trying to make you see her.
It's not an immediate oh. Robby sees the photo frame first in its off state, then reads the note accompanying it, confused initially, before he takes another look at the frame. Then he realises what it is, one of those fancy things that he's never had a second thought about; and it even takes him actually looking the thing over to understand it's not your every day photo frame to get that far.
But pressing a button, and looking down at what appears, that oh hits him in the same instance as he lays his eyes on the scene taking place: on a certain woman pictured, looking comfortable, content enough. He can't pinpoint when it might've been taken, but also, Robby doesn't actually care.
He just sits there with the photo frame on his lap, staring down at it with a dampening vision. One that blurs more, when he remembers the note.
And he spends a good time with that photo, even when he isn't directly looking at it. Time that he doesn't interrupt with much else, and why he doesn't send Mister LaRusso a text until later on, closer to night. ]
thank you for the gift, mr larusso. i'll treasure it.
[ And sure enough, it'll be visible inside Robby's apartment on a cupboard surface, seen clearly from the couch, whenever Daniel visits. ]
